Dear Sir,
I wanted to bring to your attention a great article in today's Forward, "An Unwavering Commitment to Reforming the Middle East" by John Kerry (August 27, 2004)
Having considered their respective records, a number of us in the Jewish community feel that Kerry has and will continue to support Israel more consistently and more strongly than Bush has. See my website http://www.loebtree.com/kerry/israel.html for some of my analysis.
I have been invited by the Suburban JCC B'nai Aaron to debate this issue against a local Republican on Sunday morning October 10 following morning service's and preceding brunch. Details are available at http://www.loebtree.com/kerry.html#9
I think this is a great initiative which should copied around the area. While Jews are interested in the same sorts of issues as everyone else: health care, homeland defense, education, employments, etc. We can get information about candidates stands about those issues in the general media and in the debates organized by the Commission on Presidential Debates.
On the other hand, if we do not provide a forum for comparing their stands on Israel, an issue dear to our hearts, then we are doing ourselves a disservice.
Yours, Dan Loeb, daniel.loeb@verizon.net
