Earliest genealogies

The following pages contain information (somewhat conjectural) about the oldest branches of our family tree starting from Adam and Eve, going through King David, to about 1000 C.E., with links to the more recent parts of our family tree.

• Biblical.
  • Step 1: From Adam and Eve to the Patriarch Jacob's twelve sons.
  • Step 2: Two branches. Either:
    • Kings From Judah through King David and the Royal Line of Judah to Hai Gaon. There are two possible conflicting connections from here to my family via The Maharal of Prague.
      • R. Yoseph I-Maharal-Loeb.
      • Zurubbabel-Bustanai-R. Yoseph I
    • Priests:
      • From Levi through Aaron and his descendants the High Priests, to the Maccabees and King Herod
      • Through the Emesan and Persian royal families to Izdundad, Princess of Persia.
      • She married Bustanai, and is thus an ancestor of the BALLIN branch (via Rashi) and BERDUGO branch of the family tree, see below.
  • Alternatively, consider the Tree of Life website for some "non-biblical" genealogy.... or Jakob HOLDT's website or The MARCOTTE Family Tree for a genealogy of Herod's daughter in law, Glaphyra, which traces her back through the pharaohs, Alexander the great & the Greek ancients (even the gods!)
