Rabbi Saul WAHL (d. around 1620) was a descendant (17 generations) of Rashi (Rabbi Shlomo Yizchaki, b. 22 Feb. 1040 Troyes, France, d. 13 July 1105 Troyes, France). The link goes through:

  1. Rashi's middle daughter, Miriam, married Judah ben Nathan (the RIBaN), who completed the commentary on the Talmud Makkot which Rashi was working on when he died,
  2. their son Rabbi Yom Tov of Falaise who moved to Paris and headed a yeshiva there.
  3. his son Yehuda
  4. his son Yochanan Tribesh
  5. his son Joseph Tribesh

Rabbi Saul WAHL is said to have been King of Poland for one day.
