I'm glad to hear from you.

I have quite a few Republican friends and family members, and I have no problem keeping my political opinions separate from our common friendship while enjoying a lively debate if you like. So I encourage you to reply to my emails. I'll try my best to reply to them if you don't object, but I'm pretty busy with political activities so I don't promise anything.

I differ from your characterization of Kerry's view of the fence. He is in support of the fence. You can be in support of an idea and have ideas how to do it better. In fact, the Supreme Court of Israel is actually having part of the fence rebuilt whereas Kerry was merely suggesting a route for part of a section which remained to be built.

On the contrary, every dollar of the construction of the fence has been removed by Bush at his discretion from our Israeli loan guarantees. To me, that can not be construed as supporting the construction of the fence or any variant of the fence.

> Your comment about his failing to move the embassy is disingenuous. President Clinton failed to move the embassy as well. Do you think that Kerry will?

When Clinton was president, JFK got a lot of heat for criticizing Clinton about the failure. I believe JFK was standing up for what he believed was right and is still right. I believe JFK will move the embassy.

> Kerry does not even understand that we are at war.

Kerry understands that we are at war with terrorism. As such we should have prosecuted the war in Afghanistan with much greater vigor, and taken the battle on to Somalia, the Philippines while taking strong action to stop WMD in N. Korea and Iran. The war in Iraq has undermined the war on terror, for Iraq (while a nasty country) was (1) under control, (2) not in possession of WMD and (3) not an ally of Al Qaeda.

You are right to bring up the analogy of Chamberlain, but I view Kerry as more of a Churchill than Bush for Kerry wants to take the war to the Terrorists. Perhaps if Bush was leading the UK in the 1930's he would have invaded Sweden for all I know as part of a "War on Fascism".

I know you like Aretz Sheva. Here is a link to an article they have about an interview with John Kerry's brother Haim Kerry (formerly Cameron before he converted, for he is now raising a Jewish family). http://www.israelnationalnews.com/article.php3?id=3886

Also, note that Theresa Heinz Kerry was instrumental and relentless as President of the Congressional Wives for Soviet Jewry in her quest for the freedom for Refusniks. I think it is that kind of determination we need.

Why do you think Bush is so good for Israel?

For example, how would you have wanted him to have responded to the intentional targeting of a US diplomatic convoy in Gaza?

Also, why has Bush not yet come out in support of the Koby Mandell Justice for American Victims of Terrorism Act, which Kerry supports, and whose provisions are at odds with the Department of Justice's practice of pursuing terrorists who kill Americans anywhere but in Israel.

Honestly, I wished so hard that Bush was right when he attacked Iraq so that he would not make the US into the nations that "cried wolf". If Bush wins then I hope you are right about him, but honestly I fear that you are not.
